Do you long to be in nature?
Do you long to draw and paint ‘en plein air’?
On this workshop excursion we will do both. We meet at the edge of the city and as I guide you into the woods, we do a walking meditation using mindful contemplation to draw our subject matter to us.
On our first stop we begin with a detail, drawing a micro piece of nature, using gradient pencils and/or Conte’. We walk further into the woods until we reach our second stop where we come to a wider, open view and create a larger composition using watercolour.
Duration: 3 Hours
All Materials Provided
Cost: 38-45 EUR per person
48 EUR – travelling solo
38 EUR – groups of 2 or more.
Nature’s infinite inspiration will help us to unlock our creativity, overcome the voice of the inner critic and create our own authentic art. The purpose of this mindful art excursion is to connect to both nature and our creative selves.
I am happy to be your guide along this path. No prior visual art skills are necessary, just the desire to express yourself through visual art.
All materials are provided but feel free to bring your favourite paintbrush; pencil, etc.…also feel free to email me for any queries or bookings.
We meet at Berlin’s quaintest Art Nouveau S-Bahn, over ground railway station, Mexico Platz. From here we take the S-Bahn to Wannsee, from where we then get the ferry to Kladow. Our mindful art walk takes place in the woods and by the water in Kladow. We end at an old Inn with a spectacular view. I accompany you back on the ferry to the S-Bahn. Regular Berlin public transport, BVG day tickets cover both the S-Bahn and the ferry.
Meeting Point: U-Bahn Alt Tegel, in front of C&A department store. We walk along Greenwich Promenade, Berliners’ holiday strip to the Tegel Lake, the second largest of Berlin’s lakes in the city’s northwest district. We pass boats and sailing clubs to the Dicke Marie, Berlin’s oldest tree, which we will draw. We then continue our mindful meditation walk to the forest, stopping along the way to draw and later coming to a larger view to paint the nature around us.
Both Art-ineraries take approximately 3 hours. On hotter days, I offer the option to drop you at some of Berlin’s best swimming spots after our excursion.
I am also a Hatha yoga teacher and vegan retreat cook so other optional add ons could be a 60-minute Hatha yoga class and a vegan picnic. If these interest you, do get in touch so that we can work out an art, yoga and vegan picnic excursion.
I look forward to hearing from you and being able to show you around the wonderful nature that this amazing city has to offer.
As well as being a visual artist I am also a Hatha yoga teacher and practitioner of Zen mediation. To me art is a way of seeing the world. I would love to share this approach with participants, allowing them to tap into the focus of meditation practice, which opens infinite possibilities to the creation of art as a new way of seeing.
I have offered Mindful Art workshops in retreat settings in Spain, the UK and Australia. I currently offer Mindful Art workshops at Tegelsee and Kladow in Berlin.
I would love to be able to bring the joy and playfulness of creating art to those who say,
“I would like to draw or paint but I can’t, I’m terrible at it.”
I would also like to offer guidance on the use of various art materials with both traditional drawing and painting materials. Through playful and mindful exploration in our workshops, I hope to bring participants to a place of self-confidence and self-guidance in their own art experience
Workshops will cover:
Using drawing materials: Pencil and Conté
Using watercolours both traditional and new mediums
Delacroix/Van Gogh colour theory (exploration)
Creating composition
Possibly- on request – introduction to using oil paint.
